Take Amtrak's New Desert Wind, 1979
As the slot machine illustration makes clear, the customer had hit the jackpot with the 1979 start of the Desert Wind (Ogden, Utah-Los Angeles), which provided a link to Las Vegas and the famous Strip lined with casinos and clubs. Years later, the train was combined with the California Zephyr east of Salt Lake City for through service to Chicago. The Desert Wind was discontinued in 1997.
